FAQs
What is holistic creative therapy?
Holistic creative therapy is an approach that supports emotional wellbeing by combining creative expression (like art, writing, or movement) with a whole-person perspective. It considers your mind, body, and emotions together, helping you explore feelings in a gentle, non-verbal way when words aren’t enough.
Do I need to be “good at art” to take part?
Not at all. There’s no focus on artistic skill or talent—this isn’t about creating something perfect. It’s about self-expression, curiosity, and giving yourself space to explore.
Who is this for?
Sessions are open to anyone looking to reconnect with themselves, reduce stress, process emotions, or explore creativity. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply curious—there’s no “right” reason to start.
What happens in a session?
Each session is gently guided and tailored to you. You might explore different creative activities like drawing, journaling, or mindful exercises. There’s always space to reflect, but you’re never pressured to share more than you feel comfortable with.
Are sessions one-to-one or group-based?
Both options may be available. One-to-one sessions offer more personalised support, while group sessions create a shared, supportive environment. You can choose what feels right for you.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on your needs and goals. Some people benefit from a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support. We can discuss what feels right for you, however I do plan education packages which are 6 sessions long but can be adapted. Studies do show that consistent ‘therapy’ of a minimum is where you see actions and goals being met.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions may be offered in-person, I hold sessions at the Happy Body Project in Haynes, Bedfordshire and can support young people in their education or home setting. Online sessions are designed to feel just as supportive and creative, using simple materials you likely already have at home, these are booked via google calendar where I send you the link for the session.
What do I need to bring?
If attending in person, materials are provided. For online sessions, you’ll receive a simple list of suggested items (like paper, pens, or anything creative you enjoy).
Is this the same as counselling or psychotherapy?
Holistic creative therapy can be therapeutic, but it’s not a replacement for clinical mental health treatment. It complements other forms of support and focuses on creative exploration and emotional wellbeing.
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes, your privacy is respected. What you share in sessions is kept confidential, except in rare situations where there may be a risk of harm (which will be explained clearly beforehand). I may ask for permission to share your artwork or comments you have made through the session but personal details are not shared and this would only be shared with your consent.
What if I feel nervous about starting?
That’s completely natural. Starting something new can feel daunting, especially when it involves personal expression. Sessions are designed to be gentle, welcoming, and at your own pace.
How do I book a session?
You can book by contacting me through the website or email. We’ll guide you through the next steps.
Can I have a chat before booking?
Yes, you’re welcome to arrange a short introductory call to ask questions and see if this feels like the right fit for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations will be subject to a fee.
